Family Fun Planned for Annual Celebrate La Plata
La Plata’s annual spring festival is this weekend!
Celebrate La Plata takes place Saturday, April 29, from noon to 4 p.m. on the grounds of the La Plata Town Hall.
The day includes fun for the whole family, from face painting and local organizations’ displays, craft and food vendors, entertainment, and the annual Bed Races! Visit the Art Smart tent to make cool art from recycled materials, or Jump with Jill to see how living healthy can be fun. Local organizations will also provide demonstrations, including World Gym, Coal Road CrossFit, and Kinetic Performance
And don’t miss the annual La Plata Bed Races! The races begin at 3 p.m.

Sample Great Beers at the Chesapeake Beach Craft Beer Festival
Where can you find 25 breweries all in one place?
At the 1st Annual Craft Beer Festival this Saturday, April 29, at the Chesapeake Beach Resort & Spa, 4165 Mears Ave. in Chesapeake Beach. The event will take place from noon to 6 p.m. Doors open for VIPs at noon; general admission begins at 2 p.m.
Local Maryland breweries will be represented as well as popular national brands. More than 50 craft beers will be available for tasting and the resort’s buffet will be open – all with the incredible backdrop of the Chesapeake Bay!
VIP tickets cost $55 in advance and $65 at the door. The VIP ticket includes noon entrance, access to VIP section, and complimentary food.
General admission tickets cost $40 in advance and $50 at the door. General admission tickets can enter at 2 p.m.
Designated driver tickets cost $15. These ticketholders may enter at any time.

Take a Run Through Maryland History
It’s not often that a half marathon can take you back in time.
But not all races are like the St. Mary’s Historic Half Marathon. Starting at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, the half marathon takes runners through Maryland’s first colonial capital and North America’s best preserved English colonial archaeological site, Historic St. Mary’s City.
This race is appropriate for all experience levels including first-timers. A 5K race will follow after the start of the half marathon.
The race will take place Sunday, April 30, at 8 a.m., beginning at the St. Mary’s City Visitor Center. The 5K race begins at 8:05 a.m.
