A Makeover for the … Garage?

When you’re listing rooms in your home that need a facelift, the garage doesn’t often come to mind. But if this space isn’t useful to you as-is, perhaps it is time to reclaim it!

Transforming your garage isn’t for everyone; in all honesty, most of us use the garage for parking or storage or as a workshop. But when you need extra space – or you have a new garage! – making the garage a livable space could be the key.

This article from homedit shows us several garage transformations, from commercial garages that became homes to an amazing man cave. Perhaps you run a small business and need a home office. Transform the garage into your workspace, and your customers and clients won’t have to traipse through your home to get to the office.

Before you rip out the garage door, though, consider whether eliminating the garage from your home will affect your home’s value – especially if you’re planning to sell someday. Some buyers may prefer a place to park their car over a swinging hangout space. It may depend on your neighborhood – and whether parking space is premium.

What do you think? Would you convert your garage into living space?
