Fall might be the busiest season for festivals in Southern Maryland, and this weekend is no different. Celebrate the season at one of these festivals happening in the region this weekend, Oct. 20-22, 2017.

St. Mary’s College Invites You to Hawktoberfest

It’s a full weekend of festive fall activities at St. Mary’s College of Maryland’s Hawktoberfest!

The festival will take place Friday, Oct. 20, from 5 to 8 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 21, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The weekend will full of free and low-cost events for community members, students and their families, and the college community.

Events include:

  • Taste of Southern Maryland, Friday, 5 to 7:30 p.m.
  • 18th Annual Petruccelli 5K, Saturday, 8 a.m. race start
  • Kids’ Corner, Saturday, noon to 5 p.m.
  • Arboretum Guided Tree Walk, Saturday, 1 to 2 p.m.
  • Mary’s River Cruises, Saturday, 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m., and 4 p.m.
  • Bamboo Boat Race, Saturday, 4 to 5 p.m. (construction begins at noon)
  • Crab Feast, Saturday, 6 to 8 p.m.
  • Brunch Buffet, Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Celebrate Calvert’s Agriculture at Farm Festival

Do you know what grows in Calvert County?

Find out this weekend at the five working farms participating in the 20th annual Farm Festival. The event will take place Saturday and Sunday, Oct, 21-22. This rain-or-shine event promises to be a great educational outing and has activities for the whole family including hay rides, fall produce, wine tastings, and more.

Participating farms:

Fridays Creek Winery, 3485 Chaneyville Road, Owings: Open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days for wine sales and tastings and tours of the vineyard and winery. Enjoy a lunch in the picnic area! Fee for wine tasting.

Horsmon Farm, 1865 Horsmon Farm Lane, St. Leonard: Open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days so you can peruse fall decorative products and local meats. Enjoy hay rides, farm animals, and more. $8 per person

Mulberry Hill Farm, 1605 Solomons Island Road, Huntingtown: Open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days for live music (Saturday only), wine tastings, pumpkins, and mums. See the first official barn quilt square on the new Calvert Barn Quilt Trail! Fee for wine tasting.

Perigeaux Vineyards and Winery, 8650 Mackall Road, St. Leonard: Open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days for wine tastings, vineyard and winery tours, arts and crafts vendors, food trucks, corn hole, and live music. Fee for wine tasting.

Spider Hall Farm, 3915 Hallowing Point Road, Prince Frederick: Open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days for fall fun including corn maze, hay rides, petting zoo, vendor market, and more. $8 for ages 4 to 15; $5 ages 16 and up. Ages 3 and younger are free.

Fun for the Whole Family at Celebrate Charles: FallFest

Find live entertainment, trick or treating, artisans, and more at the 6th Annual Celebrate Charles: FallFest!

The event will take place Saturday, Oct. 21, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Capital Clubhouse in Waldorf.

Shop the Celebrate Charles Marketplace where local crafters and artisans will be showcasing their talents and wares. Kids can test out their Halloween costumes along the Trick-or-Treat Trail or have a blast in the free Family Fun Zone. Don’t miss great entertainment by The Great Zuchinni and magician John Hensen.

Admission is free; fees for food and marketplace purchases.
