It can take a while to find “the one.” Swiping right, going on dates, asking (and answering) lots of questions. Are you a match? Do your personalities gel?

It turns out choosing a real estate agent to help you buy or sell a house is a lot like looking for a soulmate. And those who work in the business have some great advice for making sure you find “the one.”

First? Don’t hire the first agent you meet. “Date around,” so to speak. Get recommendations from friends and family (social media can be a great place to crowdsource) or search local real estate websites. Then, start asking questions. Meet in person with several agents before settling on one. You’re going to spend a lot of time with your agent. You should feel comfortable together and understand each other.

Second? Always be honest. What is your budget? What are you looking for in a home? Be upfront about what you can realistically spend and lay out your must-haves and like-to-haves. Like all relationships, your partnership with your real estate agent is built on trust.

There’s a lot more to look for in an agent, and the experts have outlined more tips for choosing a real estate agent here. Want to get to know me? I’m ready for your questions. Just give me a call!
