Social media makes it easy for us to share every aspect of our lives with our friends and followers online, and buying a Southern Maryland home is no different. The National Association of Realtors reports in RealtorMag that there’s a growing trend among new homebuyers, especially those buying their first home: They want a photo shoot to document their new status as homeowners!

New homeowners are hiring photographers to take pictures of them in their new, often empty home. Sometimes, they even ask their agents to help them find someone to take the pictures! Then armed with signs like “Sold” or “First Home,” they set out for a photo session.

The trend is a boon to homeowners and real estate agents. The homeowners get adorable pictures to share with their friends on social media or use on housewarming invitations and cards. Real estate agents, on the other hand, may see a bump in business. “I see a lot of people – a lot of circles of friends – buy houses around the same period of time because they are seeing their friends make home purchases,” one said.

What do you think? Would you bring in a photographer for celebratory new-home photos?
