Even better? The guide encourages you to get the whole family involved, offering suggestions for tasks that the kids can tackle.
Perhaps the best bit of advice in the article is this: Don’t start your cleaning too early! Southern Maryland falls and winters can be wet and messy, and cleaning too soon can mean that you have to clean more than once.

Day 1: Clean public areas like your entryway or foyer, closets, and porch. Tasks include decluttering; dusting; and wiping down doors, windows, and lights.
Day 2: Take care of hallways, bedrooms, and staircases. Your tasks? More decluttering, vacuuming, and fresh linens for the guest room if you’re expecting overnight guests.
Day 3: Go over the bathrooms that your guests will use. Think your usual bathroom cleaning routine with a couple of deeper tasks like wiping down lights and washing mats and rugs.
Day 4: Time to tackle the public areas that will be the center of your party, like your living room and dining room. There’re more decluttering to be done here to make sure there’s room for everyone. Houzz also suggests setting some ground rules with the family for maintaining the cleanliness of these highly used rooms in the days leading up to the party.
Day 5: Clean the kitchen. It’s the hub of your home, so Houzz suggests cleaning this room last. It will be the hardest to keep clean!
