What’s happening in Southern Maryland this weekend? Events to celebrate our veterans, and lots of chances to start your holiday shopping!

Veteran’s Day Events Planned for Thursday and Friday

Several events are planned throughout Southern Maryland this week to mark Veteran’s Day.

Veteran’s Circle Celebration
Where: Loffler Senior Activity Center, 21905 Chancellors Run Road, Great Mills
When: Thursday, Nov. 10, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Commemorate Veteran’s Day at the Loffler Senior Activity Center. For more information, call 301-737-5670, ext. 1658.

Veteran’s Day Parade
Where: Leonardtown
When: Friday, Nov. 11, 10 a.m.

The annual Leonardtown Veteran’s Day parade will wind from St. Mary’s Ryken High School, down Fenwick Street to Washington Square, and through the Town Square in Leonardtown. A memorial wreath-laying ceremony will take place following the parade.

Veteran’s Day Event
Where: VFW 8810, 2310 Old Washington Road, Waldorf
When: Friday, Nov. 11, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A ceremony to honor Veteran’s Day will begin at 11 a.m. on parade ground/memorial quarterdeck along Route 925. An open house at the VFW will follow with burgers, hot dogs, and salads. For more information, call 301-645-6331.

Veterans Appreciation Ceremony
Where: American Legion Post 82, 6330 N. Crain Highway, La Plata
When: Friday, Nov. 11, 11 a.m. to noon

All veterans and anyone who would like to honor veterans are invited to the American Legion Post 82 grounds in La Plata for a Veterans Appreciation Ceremony. A light lunch will follow. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will take place inside.

Veteran’s Day Ceremony
Where: Calvert County Courthouse, Prince Frederick
When: Friday, Nov. 11, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

A service to mark Veteran’s Day will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the courthouse in Prince Frederick followed by an open house at the American Legions Stallings-Williams Post 206 in Chesapeake Beach. All are welcome. Call 301-855-6466 for more information.

Unique Boutique
Where: Calvert High School, 600 Dares Beach Road, Prince Frederick
When: Saturday, Nov. 12, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, Nov. 13, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The 43rd annual Unique Boutique has a new location! The event features the work of prominent Southern Maryland artists. Find a one-of-a-kind gift this holiday season!

St. Paul’s Christmas Bazaar
Where: St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 37707 New Market Turner Road, Mechanicsville
When: Saturday, Nov. 12, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

St. Paul’s annual Christmas Bazaar supports the church and local businesses! Vendors include LuLaRoe, Jamberry, Scentsy, Origami Owl, Positively Posh, Tastefully Simple, and local crafters selling handmade items. In the kids’ room, children can make crafts while you shop! The café will be open for breakfast and lunch, and there will also be a bake sale and a used book sale.

Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Craft Fair
Where: Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 27108 Mt. Zion Church Road, Mechanicsville
When: Saturday, Nov. 12, 9 to 11 a.m.

Shop unique crafters and enjoy delicious food and the bake sale. All proceeds benefit the church and its mission. The event is sponsored by Sarah Circle/United Methodist Women. For more information, call 301-884-4132 or visit www.mtzionmech.org.
