Deciding to put your Southern Maryland home on the market is just the beginning of getting to “sold.” A lot has to happen before a sign goes in your yard, and the process begins as soon as you hire a real estate agent (hopefully me!).
The first step? Getting your home ready to sell. One of the first things I do as your agent is take a walkthrough of your home. I’ll make recommendations for ways you can prepare your home for sale and stage it for potential buyers. Not every home will need major repairs! In fact, some just need a little decluttering and freshening up before they go on the market for sale.
What might you need to do? Freshome recently wrote about five areas that you can easily update without spending a lot of money.
First up? Curb appeal. What buyers see when they walk up to your Southern Maryland home will affect how they feel once they get inside. Cleaning up the outside is simple: Remove clutter and add or update accessories like wreaths and doormats, Freshome says. Want to do more? Give your front door a fresh coat of paint.
Keep the good impression going by having a welcoming and functional foyer or entryway. Again, the first task is to declutter, Freshome says. Then, make room for a bench and some storage. Buyers want to see that the foyer won’t be a catchall and that there’s a place for keys and shoes.
From there, Freshome highlights three other things that matter to buyers: Kitchens, bathrooms, and paint. Find out how you can update these areas in your Southern Maryland home on Freshome.com.
