There’s no reason to stay home this weekend! So many great things are happening in Southern Maryland this weekend that you’re sure to find something for everyone. Here are just three of the events taking place in the region this weekend, Sept. 20-22, 2019.
St. Mary’s County Marks Smithsonian’s Museum Day
Admission to two of St. Mary’s County’s historic museums will be free this weekend in honor of Smithsonian Magazine’s Museum Day.
St. Clement’s Island Museum in Colton’s Point and Piney Point Lighthouse Museum and Historic Park in Piney Point will participate in the magazine’s celebration of boundless curiosity at museums across the county. The event takes place Saturday, Sept. 21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Museum tickets are available for download at https://www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday/museum-day-2019/. Visitors who present a Museum Day ticket will gain free entrance for two at a participating venue of their choice on Sept. 21, 2019 One ticket is permitted per email address, and tickets may only be used at one location. Additional guests not included in the Museum Day ticketing will be charged regular admission rates.

Celebrate Art and Music at Annmarie Garden’s Artsfest
Calling all arts lovers!
Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center is the place to be this weekend as the garden hosts its annual Artsfest ’19 Art & Music Festival.
The event will take place Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 21 and 22, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. The sculpture garden is located at 13740 Dowell Road in Solomons.
Now in its 26th year, the festival is a fabulous weekend of visual and performing arts. There will be 180 artist booths throughout the garden’s grounds as well as 35 performers on four stages, kids’ activities,
great food and drink, and more!
Cost is $7 per person Members and kids age 11 and younger are free. No pets, please.

Charles County Chamber Hosts “Bounty of the County” Feast
Enjoy great local food in Charles County this weekend!
The Charles County Chamber of Commerce will host its 2nd
Annual “Bounty of the County” event at Weatherly Farm on Sunday, Sept. 22, from 3 to 7 p.m. The farm is located at 14145 Banks O’dee Road in Newburg.
This special event includes a delicious “farm and river to table” feast that highlights local chefs and dining selections. Local farms and seafood purveyors will be featured. Other activities include a silent auction and live music.
