New Sotterley Tour Explores Courtship and Marriage

What was love like in the 18th and 19th centuries? Find out during Historic Sotterley Plantation’s new insider’s tour, “Love
in the Afternoon”!

The tour will take place on Saturday, March 30, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. This unique tour highlights spaces not normally seen and stories not usually shared of 18th and 19th century courtship and marriage and the ongoing preservation of Madam Bowles’ Bed Chamber.

Advance registration is required, and tours are limited to 18 people per tour. No walk-ins.

American Legion Hosts Motown Dance Night

Put on your dancing shoes!

The public is invited to Motown Night this weekend in Chesapeake Beach! The Sons of the American Legion Stallings-Williams Post 206 will host a night of music by DJ Stephen Varney on Saturday, March 30, from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. The dance will take place at the post, which is located at 3330 Chesapeake Beach Road in Chesapeake Beach.

Cost is $10 per person and includes draft beer and soda. Tickets are available at the door.

Have Breakfast with the Easter Bunny!

Before the bunny gets too busy with Easter fun, he’s taking the time to have breakfast with some of his friends here in Southern Maryland. Will you be there?

The 7th District Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will host Breakfast with the Easter Bunny on Sunday, March 31, from 8 to 11 a.m. at the firehouse at 21660 Colton Point Road in Avenue. The menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, baked apple dessert, coffee, tea, milk, and juice.

Cost is $11 for adults, $10 for senior citizens, $3 for children age 4 to 12, and free for children age 3 and younger. Don’t forget your camera!
