It’s the first full weekend of summer, and the kids are out of school! How will you spend your weekend in Southern Maryland? Check out these events happening this weekend, June 22-24, 2018.

Youth Actors Present ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’

The Twin Beach Players’ youth troupe will present William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” through Sunday, June 24. Performances will take place Friday, June 22, and Saturday, June 23, at 8 p.m.; and Sunday, June 24, at 3 p.m. The theater is located at 9021 Dayton Ave. in North Beach.

Tickets are $15 general admission and $12 for seniors, students, and military.

Shakespeare wrote “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” in 1595 and 1596. The comedy shows the events surrounding the marriage of Theseus, the Duke of Athens, to Hippolyta, the former queen of the Amazons.

Raise a Glass, Support Historic St. Mary’s City!

Where can you drink great Maryland beer and support your community?

At Beerfest at Historic St. Mary’s City! The annual festival takes place Saturday, June 23, from noon to 6 p.m. on the lawn of the historic State House at Historic St. Mary’s City. The museum is located at 47418 Old State House Road in St. Mary’s City.

Admission is $25 for tasters (age 21+ with ID); $10 for designated drivers of youth age 15-20; and free for children age 14 and younger. Proceeds benefit the museum.

Enjoy beer from Maryland craft brewers, including Calvert Brewing Company, Flying Dog Brewery, Mully’s Brewery, Ruddy Duck Brewery, Scorpion Brewing, and many more! Food will be available for purchase from local vendors, and artisans will be on hand selling their arts and crafts. Live music will play all day.

Get Dirty at Annmarie Garden’s Mud Day!

Did you know Sunday is International Mud Day?

Celebrate this messy and fun day at the fourth annual Mud Day at Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center in Dowell. The event will take place Sunday, June 24, from noon to 4 p.m. at the garden. Admission is free for members; $5 per person; and free for children age 1 and younger.

The whole family is encouraged to stomp, splash, and get dirty! Dive into the giant mud play areas like the Mega Mud Pit and the Mini Mud Pit for the little ones. Mix up mud pies in the Mud Kitchen and create a Mud Masterpiece in the Mud Gallery. The Squish-a-Face Forest Friend activity will bring the trees at Annmarie to life with loads of muddy personality.

Take-home mud creations include a Terrific Terrarium and Seed Cake to remind you of the day of mud-a-licious fun at Annmarie! Kona Ice of Calvert County will be here with cool treats. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic, beach chairs; pack as if you were going to the beach! Dress for a mess and bring a change of clothes and a beach towel.
