Celebrate Charles: FallFest is fun for the whole family!

The festival takes place Saturday, Oct. 22, from noon to 4 p.m. at Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf. Admission is free, but there are fees for food and marketplace purchases. Rain or shine.

Shop from talented local artists and crafters in the Celebrate Charles Marketplace, and enjoy lively performances by Rocknoceros and The Balloon Nerd. Kids can give their Halloween costume a test drive on the Trick-or-Treat Trail and play all day in the Family Fun Zone. A Taste of Southern Maryland will offer cooking demonstrations.

Bluegrass Bands Play to Benefit Hospice

Enjoy great bluegrass music this weekend for a great cause!

Bluegrass for Hospice will take place Saturday, Oct. 22, from noon to 8 p.m. at Flat Iron Farm in Great Mill. Tickets are $25 in advance at http://www.bluegrassforhospice.com/ or $30 at the gate. Children under 12 are admitted free with a paid adult. Gates open at 11 a.m.

BYOB and your lawn chairs for a day of great music! Performers include Mountain Faith, the semifinalists of the 2015 “America’s Got Talent”; The Larry Stephenson Band; Recycled Bluegrass; 15 Strings; Buddy Abell & Spoon Creek; Bluegrass Gospel Express; and a special “Bottom County Bluegrass” tribute to Charlie Thompson.

Other activities include vendors, door prizes, raffles, and silent auctions. Southern Maryland-style food will be available for sale. Non-perishable food items will be collected for a local food pantry.

Restaurants across Solomons Island will serve up their very best for this weekend’s Harvest Taste of Solomons.

The event will take place Saturday, Oct. 22, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at various locations on Solomons Island. For a list of participating restaurants, visit http://www.solomonsmaryland.com/events/signature-events/a-taste-of-solomons/.

This one-day food festival celebrates the many wonderful places to eat in this lovely waterfront community! Food and drink tickets are $4 each and available for purchase at each participating restaurant. A ticket buys you one of a selection of special menu items or drinks selected by each participating establishment as their Harvest Taste of Solomons offering.

All proceeds benefit the Solomons Business Association’s annual July 4th fireworks display.
