You know it is fall in Southern Maryland when the roadside signs advertising county fairs appear. From now through early October, there’s a fair every weekend – sometimes two!
Each county fair showcases the best that county has to offer in agriculture, arts and crafts, flowers, produce, and more. There will be livestock displays and judging every day at all three local county fairs plus demonstrations, local vendors and organizations, food, and more.
And don’t forget the midway! Carnival rides and games hold something fun for young and old.
What will you find at your county’s fair? Mark your calendars now and plan to attend at least one local fair this fall.

Charles County Fair
Dates: Thursday to Sunday, Sept. 15-18, 2016
Admission: $5 age 11 and up; free age 10 and younger; $12 for a four-day pass. Schoolchildren are admitted free on Friday, Sept. 16, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

St. Mary’s County Fair
Dates: Thursday to Sunday, Sept. 22-25, 2016
Admission: $5 adults; $1 children age 6 to 12; free for children under 12; season pass: $9 adults, $2 children age 6 to 12.

Calvert County Fair

Admission: $5 age 12 and up; free for children age 11 and younger. Free admission on Thurdsay, Sept. 29, for senior citizens and those with special needs. Free admission for students age 18 and younger on Friday, Sept. 30, until 4 p.m.
