Looking for something fun to do with the kids this weekend? There’s a lot happening in Southern Maryland in the coming days that the kids will love. Check out just three of the fun events happening in Southern Maryland this weekend, July 27-29, 2018.

“Krafting” Event Brings Kids and Grandparents Together

What’s more fun than spending time with your grandchildren? Crafting with them!

The Northern Senior Activity Center in Charlotte Hall will host Krafting with Kids on Friday, July 27, from 10 a.m. to noon. The center is located at 29655 Charlotte Hall Road in Charlotte Hall.

Three crafting stations staffed with volunteers will be open for school-aged kids and adults to make a basket and pinch pot and to paint rocks. There will even be ice cream!

There is no fee for the event, but donations are welcome to support the cost of materials and food.

Lunch will also be available, with a menu of a chicken patty on a deli roll, coleslaw, seedless watermelon, fruit juice, and 1 percent milk. Cost of lunch is a donation for seniors age 60 and older and $6 for others paid the day of the event.

Piney Point Museum Celebrates Pirates Day

Ahoy mates!

Pirates and scallywags of all kinds are invite to Pirate Day at Piney Point Lighthouse Museum and Historic Park! The event will take place Saturday, July 28, with two sessions: 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.

Pirate Day is open to children age 4 to 9, and registration is open now! Cost is $10 per child. To register your child, call the Piney Point Lighthouse Museum at 301-994-1471.

This fun, pirate-themed day includes a host of pirate activities including make-and-take activities, pirate tattoos and flags, and more. Each child will get a pirate name! For more information, call 301-994-1471.

Build at Toy Boat at the Calvert Marine Museum

Who wants to build their very own toy boat?

Kids have the chance to try their hand at boat-building in miniature this Saturday at the Calvert Marine Museum. The museum will host toy boat building on Saturday, July 28, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Maritime History Hall. Sessions begin on the half hour, and a $2 donation per boat is requested. Admission to the museum is required.
