Non-Stop Music at Park Rock Fest 2016!

Park Rock Fest 2016 is the place to be!

This annual event – now in its 14th year – will take place Saturday, Sept. 3, at the St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds in Leonardtown. Gates open at 11 a.m.

Are you ready? Twenty-three bands will perform on one of three concurrent music stages for non-stop music! Park Rock Fest features pop, punk, emo, scream, hard rock, alternative, independent, acoustic, hardcore, and metal music.

Headliners include:

  • Metal Stage: Gus G, lead guitar with Ozzy Osbourne
  • Punk, Po, Indie, and Alternative Stage: The Great Heights Band
  • Third Stage: Jamall Anthony, acoustic

Park Rock Fest also features commercial vendors, community organizations, and band merchandise tents.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the gate. All ages welcome. Park Rock Fest is a drug free, alcohol free, and obscenity free event.

The concert is produced by the Power Jam Music Alliance Inc. and sponsored by St. Mary’s County and the Maryland State Arts Council.

Summerseat Plans Monthly Fall Artisan Markets

Summerseat Farm in Mechanicsville is excited to announce its First Annual Artisan Market! These markets will take place 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the first Saturday of September, October, and November.

Market dates are Sept. 3, Oct. 1, and Nov. 5. They will take place outside at Summerseat Farm rain or shine. Items for sale will include homemade, handmade, vintage, art, and baked items.

For 122 years, it’s been a Southern Maryland Tradition: The annual Labor Day Supper at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Waldorf!

The event takes place Monday, Sept. 5, from noon to 5 p.m. at St. Paul’s, 4535 Piney Church Road in Waldorf.

The menu includes all-you-can-eat fresh fried chicken, country ham, fresh ham, homemade potato salad, homemade coleslaw, succotash, plus many vegetables and relishes. (Desserts and sodas available at additional charge.) Eat-in or carry-out.

Cost is $21 for adults and carryout; $8 for children age 5-12; and free for children age 4 and under.

There will also be a Country Store offering many hand-made crafts, plants, produce, home-canned items, and desserts for sale. The Labor Day Raffle offers the chance to win big prizes: First Prize, $250; Second Prize, $125; and Third Prize, $50. Get six chances for $5 donation!
