Find Halloween Fun for the Whole Family in Southern Maryland!

Halloween is less than a week away, and if your ghouls and goblins want to get the party started before the big day, Southern Maryland is the place to be! There are fun Halloween-themed events for all ages starting this weekend. Here’s where to find your tricks and treats – and don’t miss our list of pumpkin patches and corn mazes!

Trunk or Treats

Go trick or treating from the trunk of a car! These community
events take the fun of trick or treating and put it in the parking lot. Go from decorated car to decorated car collecting treats. There are many trunk or treats happening in Southern Maryland for Halloween. Here are some of them:

  • Leonardtown Ford Pre-Owned Lot, 26322 Point Lookout Road in Leonardtown. Saturday, Oct. 27, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Middleham and St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 10210 HG Trueman Road in Lusby. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2 to 4 p.m.
  • St. Paul United Methodist Church, 11000 HG Trueman Road in Lusby. Saturday, Oct. 27, 3 to 5 p.m.
  • Our Lady Star of the Sea School, 90 Alexander Lane in Solomons. Sunday, Oct. 28, 2 to 4 p.m.
  • Jameson-Harrison American Legion Post 238, 6265 Brandywine Road in Hughesville. Sunday, Oct. 28, 4 to 7 p.m.
  • Encounter Christian Center, 30080 Henry Lane in Charlotte Hall. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 6 p.m.
  • NewLife La Plata, 9690 Shepherds Creek Place in La Plata. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 7 to 9 p.m.

Halloween Spooktacular at the Library

Come to your local library for Halloween-themed activities,
trick or treating in the library, and a costume parade! No registration necessary. Three different times and locations:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 30, 10:30 a.m. at the Charlotte Hall Library
  • Tuesday Oct. 30, 6 p.m. at the Leonardtown Library
  • Tuesday, Oct. 30, 6 p.m. at the Lexington Park
    Library

Halloween in the Garden

When: Saturday, Oct. 27, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center

Trick or treat from more than 70 community organizations set
up throughout the sculpture garden’s grounds. Admission is $2 per person and benefits local charities like the Holiday Food Basket Program and the Annmarie Scholarship Fund.

Halloweenie Roast Campfire

When: Saturday, Oct. 27, Noon to 3 p.m.

Where: Clearwater Nature Center, 11000 Thrift Road in Clinton

Join a naturalist for a non-scary, Halloween event! Sitaround the campfire and enjoy nature tales. See live animals and do a craft.Costumes are not required. Marshmallows, hotdogs, and roasting sticks will beavailable. You may bring your own drinks if you like. Ages 2 and up. Cost is $5for residents of Prince George’s and Montgomery counties and $7 for non-residents.Register at http://pgparksdirect.com.

Halloween Party and Costume Parade

When: Sunday, Oct. 28, 1 to 3 p.m.

Location: Calvert County Fairgrounds, 140 Calvert Fair Drive
in Prince Frederick

Join the Optimist Club of Calvert for its annual Halloween Party and Parade! The event features fun and games, crafts, treats, and a Halloween parade for kids age 1 to 13. Parade begins at 2 p.m.; register onsite by 1:45 p.m. to participate.

Children’s Costume Halloween Party

When: Sunday, Oct. 28, 1 to 3 p.m.

Where: American Legion Stallings-Williams Post 206, 3330
Chesapeake Beach Road in Chesapeake Beach

Halloween Party

When: Wednesday, Oct. 31, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Tricks and treats, dancing, and a costume contest! Enjoy a gruesome lunch: Spicy Spider Cider, Coffin-Wrapped Monster with Sour Yellow Sauce, Dirt-Dabbled Orange Earth Apples, Green Leaves with Severed (Mandarin) Sections, Honeyed Toadstool, and for dessert: Smothered Burial Mounds. (If you are too squeamish for this meal, you can be served the following instead: Bratwurst
and roll with mustard, seasoned oven-fried wweet potato, Mandarin orange and spinach salad, honey-baked apple, and a cupcake). Tickets are a $6 suggested donation.

Monster Mash Mixer

When: Wednesday, Oct. 31, 1 to 4 p.m.

Dance to DJ Mean Gene for an afternoon of Halloween dance
fun! Refreshments provided while supplies last, and there will be a money raffle for participants. Cost is $5 per person and supports the cost of the DJ. To sign up and pay for this program in advance, please visit the front desk.

Mechanicsville Fire Department Boo Through 2018

When: Wednesday, Oct. 31, 7 p.m.
