Spring has taken over in Southern Maryland! Get out and about this weekend at one of the many events happening here. These are just three of the events on the calendar for this weekend, April 12-14, 2019.

Historic St. Mary’s City Hosts Storytime

Step back in time for stories on the State House bluff!

The St. Mary’s County Public Library presents Storytime on the State House Bluff on Saturday, April 13, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Historic St.
Mary’s City, 47418 Old State House Road in St. Mary’s City. The event is free and registration is not required.

There will be stories, activities, songs, and more for children age 1 to 5 with their adult caregivers. Siblings are welcome! Bring a blanket to sit on.

Celebrate Easter with the Horses at Freedom Hill!

All ages are welcome to Delilah’s Easter Hop at Freedom Hill Horse Rescue!

The event will take place Saturday, April 13, from 1 to 3:30
p.m. at the rescue, which is located at 7940 Flint Hill Road in Owings.

During this party to celebrate spring and Easter, you can decorate
Easter baskets for the horses, make crafts, hear stories, groom a spring bunny, and go on a bunny hop ride. Cost is $25 per child.

Chesapeake Choral Arts Presents “A Glorious Concert!”

Move into the Easter season in a glorious way!

The Chesapeake Choral Arts Society will perform “A Glorious Concert!” this weekend in Pomfret. Performances will take place Saturday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 14, at 3:30 p.m. Both performances will be
at St. Joseph Catholic Parish Center, 4590 St. Joseph Way in Pomfret.

The concert will feature different settings of the Gloria, including the premiere performance of the “Gloria” Variations by W.G. Pete Stokes, which will feature Director Emeritus Michael Santana as a soloist. The concert will close with Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria, featuring soloists Amy Statz
Dolan and Hannah Baslee.

Dolan (soprano) is a graduate of Western Michigan University and the University of South Carolina and furthered her opera training at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. She was a U.S. Air
Force “Singing Sergeant” for 12 years. Mezzo-soprano Baslee is a graduate of Concordia University Texas, where she received a B.A. in vocal performance and eared her M.M. in Vocal Performance at the University of Texas, El Paso.
