Fiddle Duo House of Hamill to Perform in Chaptico
Enjoy a great night of fiddle music!
Southern Maryland Traditional Music and Dance (SMTMD) presents House of Hamill on Friday, Feb. 28, from 7 to 10 p.m. The concert will take place at the Christ Church Parish Hall, 37497 Zach Fowler Road in Chaptico.
House of Hamill is Rose Baldino and Brian Buchanan, both accomplished fiddle players and classical violinists. Between them, they have more than 25 years of writing and performing experience! Together, they write unusual new fiddle tunes and exciting, unpredictable original songs while breathing new life into traditional and contemporary songs. Both are confident and unique lead vocalists, and the blend of their two voices in harmony is
hypnotic and irresistible.
Tickets are $10 for SMTMD members and $15 for nonmembers. Doors open at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be available.

Fish Dinners Mark First Friday of Lent
The pre-Easter season of Lent began of Wednesday, and if you’re giving up meat on Fridays, you’ll want to check out these great, local fish dinners.
Chesapeake Beach: American Legion Stallings-Williams Post 206 will host a Chef’s Choice Fish Dinner on Friday, Feb. 28, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The post is located at 3330 Chesapeake Beach Road East in Chesapeake Beach. Waldorf: VFW Post 8810 Auxiliary will host a Fish and Shrimp Dinner on Friday, Feb. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. The post is located at 2310 Old Washington Road in Waldorf. Cost per person is $10 for the shrimp-only dinner or fish and shrimp dinner; or $9 for the fish-only dinner. Each includes coleslaw, fries, cornbread, and dessert. AARP Offers Free Tax Prep and E-Filing in St. Mary’s
County
Free tax preparation services will be available for some low- and moderate-income tax payers in St. Mary’s County this weekend.
St. Mary’s County AARP/IRS certified Tax-Aide Counselors will provide free tax preparation and electronic filing for low-to moderate-income taxpayers of any age in St Mary’s County. Taxpayers do not need to be a member of AARP.
Walk-in services will be available on Saturday, Feb. 29, from 9 a.m. to noon at Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad Station 39, 21685 FDR Blvd. in Lexington Park. Services will also be available from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Each taxpayer must bring a copy of their 2018 prior year tax returns, social security card, and a picture ID. A detailed list of tax forms to bring is available at http://smctaxaide.org.
