Shop the “Monster Market” for Funky and Wild Finds

Do you relish all things weird, wild, and wonderful? Do you like quirky, funky, bizarre, and off-beat stuff? Do you love fall and all things Halloween-related?

Garden & Arts Center’s next market is for you!

The arts center will host a “Monster Market” on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the garden, which is located at 13470 Dowell Road in Solomons.

Indulge your love of autumn and the utterly monstrous at this over-the-top market featuring lots of handmade and homemade treats inspired by the season! Admission to the market is free, and food and drink will be available for purchase. Well-behaved, leashed pets are welcome!

Museum Hosts Blessing of the Fleet

Celebrate a Southern Maryland tradition this weekend!

St. Clement’s Island Museum will host Blessing of the Fleet on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 6, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and free for kids age 12 and younger.

The event commemorates the time-honored tradition of blessing the Southern Maryland watermen’s fleet of boats. This family-friendly event includes live entertainment, free boat excursions, local food and vendors, kids’ activities, fireworks, and more!

Support Local Causes at a 5K This Weekend!

Ready to run? You’ve got three opportunities this weekend to lace up your running shoes to support a good cause in Southern Maryland.

Friends of the Poor 5K Walk/Run: This annual walk/run benefits Calvert County residents in need. The race takes place at the Calverton School in Huntingtown on Saturday, Oct. 5. St. John’s Eagle 5K Fun Run/Walk: Honor the life and legacy for former St. John’s principal Pat Suit at this annual event, which takes place Saturday, Oct. 5. Pet Day 5K Run/Walk and Relay: Support the Calvert County Humane Society at the 17th annual Pet Day 5K run, walk, and relay on Saturday, Oct. 5, at the North Beach Pier Pavilion.
