Is Your Southern Maryland Home On-Trend or Out of Style?

It’s nearly the end of the year, which means it’s time to reflect on what was hot in 2018 and what will be passé in 2019. Are you thinking of putting your Southern Maryland home on the market in 2019? If you are, you’ll want to avoid some formerly hot trends that are no longer what buyers want to see.

Tops of the list at Lighter Side of Real Estate? Rose gold. It was hot in phones and watches and throughout trendy homes everywhere. It moves aside next year for regular gold and brushed gold.

You might also be surprised to learn that granite countertops are OUT! They’ve been a must-have for buyers for years – there was a time when everyone wanted granite counters in their kitchen! These days,
indestructible quartz has replaced porous granite. Quartz can handle your hot pans and just about anything else you can throw at it.

Staying in the kitchen, we have to apologize if you just went for the trendy all-white look. Turns out, buyers actually want a kitchen that feels cozy and welcoming, something you just can’t get when everything is stark white.

So, what do you think? How does your Southern Maryland home stack up? Too many outdated trends, or are you on point for 2019’s buyers? See the whole list of retired trends at Lighter Side of Real Estate.
