It’s finally fall in Southern Maryland! The community calendar is full of great events this weekend. Here are just three of the events happening in Southern Maryland this weekend, Sept. 27-29, 2019.

Memorial Run/Walk Benefits Local Hospital

Lace up your running shoes to remember “Runner Dan” this weekend.

The second annual Runner Dan Memorial 5K Run/Walk will take place Saturday, Sept. 28, from 8 to 11 a.m. at Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf. Registration begins at 8 a.m.; the run/walk begins at 9 a.m.

The event honors Daniel McPherson – known as “Runner Dan” to many – who died of cancer in October 2016. Part of the proceeds from the run/walk will benefit foundations of the University of Maryland Medical Center and the
University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center.

Veterans Museum Hosts Car and Bike Show

Spend the day at the Maryland Veterans Museum – and see some great cars!

The museum will host its 2019 Car & Bike Event on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the museum, which is located at 11000 Crain Highway in Newburg.

Vehicles of all makes, models, and years are welcome to attend! The show entry fee is $20 per judged vehicle. Spectators and non-judged vehicles are free. More than 25 trophies and specialty awards will be handed out at the show. There will also be live music, a moon bounce for the kids, and food. The museum will be open for visitors.

Celebrate the Water at RiverFest

RiverFest is fun for the whole family!

The annual event celebrating Southern Maryland’s waterways will take place Saturday, Sept. 28, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Historic St. Mary’s
City, 47414 Old State House Road in St. Mary’s City.

Participate in the wade-in with Sen. Bernie Fowler at 1:45 p.m., see tall ships, and enjoy live music. There will also be environmental exhibits and demonstrations, kids’ activities, crafts and artwork, and food. Admission to Historic St. Mary’s City will be free.
