Whether you’re a music lover or want to meet everyone’s favorite rabbit, this is a great weekend to get out and about in Southern Maryland! Check out these three events happening in the region this weekend, March 9-11, 2018.

Spend the Day with Other Music Lovers at Annual Guitar Festival

If you love to play guitar and want to learn more, you don’t want to miss the 6th Annual Guitar Festival!

The event will take place on Saturday, March 10, from 2 to 11 p.m. at the 5 South Event Center, 21030 Point Lookout Road in Calloway. The event is presented by the Power Jam Music Association and sponsored by the Maryland State Arts Council and the St. Mary’s County Arts Council.

Come with your guitar for a workshop with classical guitarist Mark Edwards from 2 to 4 p.m. Edwards will headline a concert from 7 to 11 p.m. From 1998 to now, Edwards has earned 34 top prizes in the United States, Canada, and Thailand. Peabody Presents says, “Mark Edwards has developed an incomparable style to his guitar playing that makes him a ‘one-of-a-kind’ type of musician.”

The concert will also feature local guitarists Longman Joseph Norris, Bob Schaller and Friends, and Hook Line and Sinker. August Winters, Josh Riley, Jessica Saint Clair, David Flood, Brandon Aksteter, and Prophessor will open the show.

An art show during the concert will display paintings and other work by local artists.

Cost for the workshop is $5 per person. Concert tickets are $7 in advance and $12 at the door. A combined advance ticket for the workshop and concert is $11.
