Last week’s rain is behind us, and the forecast for the coming weekend looks perfect for enjoying spring in Southern Maryland. Get out and have some fun in Southern Maryland this weekend, May 19-21, 2017. Check out these three events.

There’s Lots to See and Do at Karsyn’s Karnival!

Enjoy games, great, food, and family fun!

Karsyn’s Karnival takes place Saturday, May 20, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Cove Point Park, 750 Cove Point Road in Lusby.

This family-oriented event is for the entire community! There are games like mini golf, a moon bounce, face painting, pony rides, a K9 demonstration, dancing with Solomons Daycare Center, rock wall climbing, and tasty treats.

The goal of this fun event is to raise the community’s awareness about the talents and abilities of individuals with Down syndrome. Organizers hope those who come to the carnival will see that individuals with Down syndrome are exactly like everyone else.

Admission is $1, and individuals with Down syndrome are free. For details and to purchase wristbands for activities, visit www.karsynskarnival.com.

Take a Walk for the Animals this Sunday

The Humane Society of Charles County will host Walk for the Animals on Sunday, May 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The event will take place at Gilbert Run Park, 13140 Charles St. in Charlotte Hall.

The walk will be a fun day of walking with your well-behaved friends and family! Leashed pets and their owners can walk or run the park at their own pace. Stick around afterward for music and fun, including Lure Chasing for the pups. Food and ice cream will be available for purchase, and the Puppucino Stand will be back by popular demand!

Cost to register is $30. Online registration is highly recommend and can be done at www.humanesocietycc.org/event/walk-for-the-animals. Goodie bags will be given to the first 100 people who register online!
