Find Summertime Fun at One of These Southern Maryland Festivals

Summertime is the best time to get out and about in Southern Maryland! A number of festivals are planned in the region during June, July, and August – and no matter what you’re into, you’re sure to find a festival just for you.

Check out these seven great festivals happening in Southern Maryland this summer.

Historic St. Mary’s City Beerfest

Known for inviting visitors to experience Maryland’s earliest history first hand, Historic St. Mary’s City welcomes local and regional brewers for its annual Beerfest on the lawn of the State House. You’ll find beer to sample, food music to enjoy, and local artisans’ booths to browse.

When: Saturday, June 24, noon to 6 p.m.

Where: Historic St. Mary’s City, 18751 Hogaboom Lane in St. Mary’s City

Cost: Advance: $18 tasting, $10 designated driver; at the gate: $20 tasting, $10 designated driver. Children under 12 admitted free.

Celebrate Charles: A Fun-Filled Fourth

Celebrate the Fourth of July with a family festival and fireworks! Kids can play all day in the Fammily Fun Zone, and everyone can enjoy food vendors and artisan and crafter booths. Sam Grow and No Green Jellybeenz will provide live entertainment, and the night ends with a spectacular fireworks display. Plus, the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs are home for a game against the Sugar Land Skeeters.

When: Tuesday, July 4, 4:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Where: Regency Furniture Stadium, 11765 Linus Dr. in Waldorf

Cost: The festival is free. $5 “all you can play” wristbands for the Family Fun Zone. There is a fee for vendor purchases and the Blue Crabs’ game.

Potomac Jazz and Seafood Festival

The Potomac Jazz and Seafood Festival is a Southern Maryland tradition! Enjoy great music and delicious seafood at a venue that provides amazing views of St. Clement’s Island.

When: Saturday, July 8, 3 to 9 p.m. Gates open at noon.

Where: St. Clement’s Island Museum, 38370 Point Breeze Road in Coltons Point

Cost: $65 per person, $60 for members of Friends of St. Clement’s Island and Piney Point Museums. Under age 12 admitted free. Tickets available in advance only; no gate sales.

DrinkMaryland

Where can you find the best local wineries, breweries, and distilleries? At DrinkMaryland in downtown North Beach! Sample local wine, beer, cider, and spirits while shopping booths featuring local produce, arts, and crafts.

When: Saturday, July 22, noon to 6 p.m.

Where: Downtown North Beach, 9023 Bay Ave. in North Beach

Cost: $20 in advance for tastings, $25 day of the event. Includes tasting glass.

L’il Margaret’s Bluegrass and Old-Time Music Festival

Bring your favorite lawn chairs and enjoy great bluegrass music at this annual festival! L’il Margaret’s Bluegrass and Old-Time Music Festival features great music, home-cooked meals, and the opportunity to camp onsite at the festival.

When: Friday, Aug. 11, and Saturday, Aug. 12

Where: Goddard Farm, 21810 Clay Hill Road in Leonardtown

Cost: Advance: $45 for a two-day ticket; at the gate: $55 for a two-day ticket. Single-day tickets are $30 each day at the gate.

Country Life Festival

Celebrate everything outdoors at the Country Life Festival – hunting, fishing, camping, and more! This family-friendly event includes vendors, entertainment, competitions, giveaways, and more.

When: Saturday, Aug. 19, and Sunday, Aug. 20, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days

Where: St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds, 42455 Fairgrounds Road in Leonardtown

Calvert County Jousting Tournament

Have you ever seen live jousting? Now’s your chance! The 151st Calvert County Jousting Tournament showcases Maryland’s official state sport. You’ll enjoy a colorful parade of riders of all levels at the oldest tournament of the sport. Festival activities include a church bazaar and country supper.

When: Saturday, Aug. 26

Where: Christ Church, 3100 Broomes Island Road in Port Republic

Cost: Free
