Bring the Whole Family for Butterfly Fridays at Sotterley Plantation
Spend your day with the butterflies!
Sotterley Plantation will host Butterfly Fridays on July 14, 21, and 28 and Aug. 4. These family-friendly days include special butterfly activities, house tours, audio grounds tours, and interactive presentations the whole family can enjoy.
Butterfly Friday activities are included with admission.
You can also enjoy self-guided nature walks, birdwatching, garden tours, and more while at the plantation.

See Art in Full Bloom at Annmarie Garden this Weekend
With works of art as their inspiration, 35 floral designers from the region worked in their own medium – flowers – to create their own amazing works of art.
Their arrangements will be on display this weekend, July 14-16, in Art Blooms at Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center in Dowell. Each floral designer in the show was assigned a work of art in the Art Center’s Main Gallery or Mezzanine Gallery and asked to create an arrangement inspired by that work of art. This is Art Bloom’s eighth year, and it is co-hosted by the Calvert Garden Club and Ann’s Circle of Annmarie Garden.
Art Blooms will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, and Sunday, July 16. Admission is free.
Art Blooms opens with a Gala Reception on Friday, July 14, from 7 to 10 p.m. The gala features live music, food, and a silent auction. Cost is $70 each for non-members and $60 each for Annmarie and Calvert Garden Club members. CSM Hosts Open House at New Hughesville Campus
The College of Southern Maryland invites the public to tour its newest campus during an open house on Saturday, July 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Residents can tour the Center for Trades and Energy Training at the Regional Hughesville Campus and learn about the programs offered there. The center is located at 6170 Hughesville Station Place in Hughesville.
