Last Chance for a SoMd Fair! Calvert County Fair Opens on Thursday
If you haven’t enjoyed a county fair in Southern Maryland yet this year, this weekend is your last chance!
The Calvert County Fair kicks off on Thursday, Sept. 28, and runs through Sunday, Oct. 1. Enjoy everything you love about a county fair – animals, the midway, kids’ games, and exhibits – plus the Calvert Fair Idol Contest, an aerial high wire thrill show, and autographs by the Washington Redskins’ Dexter Manley and Joe Jacoby.

Newtowne Players Present Comedy “Young Frankenstein”
What happens when Dr. Frankenstein tries to fulfill his grandfather’s legacy?
Find out when The Newtowne Players present “Young Frankenstein” at Three Notch Theatre, 21744 South Coral Dr. in Lexington Park. Performances begin Friday, Sept. 29, and run on weekends through Sunday, Oct. 15.
This Mel Brooks hit musical follows the story of Dr. Frankenstein as he attempts to bring a corpse back to life. With help and hindrance from servant Igor, buxom assistant Inga and needy fiancée Elizabeth, his experiment yields success and unexpected consequences. (Please note: This is an adult comedy with crude humor intended for mature audiences.)
Cost is $18 general admission; $15 seniors and military; and $13 for kids 12 and younger. Thursday evening shows are $13.

Walk to End Alzheimer’s This Weekend
Join your community to support those living with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers this weekend in La Plata!
The Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Charles County will take place Saturday, Sept. 30, at the La Plata Town Hall, 305 Queen Anne St. in La Plata. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m., and a ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m.
The 2-mile walk kicks off at 10 a.m. Don’t miss the Post-Walk Celebration at The Greene Turtle after you complete the course!
