It’s sure to be a fun fall weekend in Southern Maryland this weekend! With Veterans Day on Saturday, Nov. 11, many schools and government offices are closed on Friday. Honor the nation’s veterans or have fun with the family at these events this weekend, Nov. 10-12, 2017.

Ceremony and Parade Mark Veterans Day

Veterans Day, a day set aside to honor and express gratitude to those who have served in the nation’s armed forces, is Saturday, and there are events throughout Southern Maryland. In Leonardtown, a Veterans Day parade will begin at 10 a.m. on the town square. The parade features marching bands, military unites, bagpipers, dancers, horses, scouts, antique cars, and a wreath-laying ceremony.

In Chesapeake Beach, the American Legion Stallings Williams Post 206 will host a Veterans Day ceremony at 1 p.m. at Veterans Park, which is located at the intersection of Routes 250 and 261 in Chesapeake Beach. After the ceremony, the legion will be open for an open house until 4 p.m. The legion is located at 3330 Chesapeake Beach Road East in Chesapeake Beach. For more information, call 410-257-9878 or visit http://www.alpost206.org/.

There are also spaghetti dinners and library events planned for Veterans Day. See more events at KimberlyBean.com.
