Pumpkins and Mazes and Cider – Oh My! Fall Fun for the Whole Family in Southern Maryland

The calendar flips to October next week, so it’s not surprising that you’re thinking about pumpkins and changing leaves and hayrides. If you’re looking for fall fun that the whole family will enjoy, check out these farms, pumpkin patches, and corn mazes in Southern Maryland. There’s something for everyone!

Bowles Farms, Clements

Play area, corn boxes, straw maze, barn yard, straw jumping pits, and more. For an additional charge, you can get your face painted or pick a pumpkin. The 2018 corn maze theme is “Washington Capitals”!

Hours: Open weekends Sept. 29 to Oct. 28, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Cost: $10 per person general admissions, cash or check. Pumpkins are not included with admission.

Forrest Hall Farm, Mechanicsville

Farm store selling fresh apples, pumpkins, and seasonal produce and a play yard that includes a corn maze, hay maze, and wooden train.

Hours: Daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cost: $7 per person for the corn maze, kids under 3 are free. No charge for other outdoor activities.

Horsmon Farm, St. Leonard

Open weekends in September and October and whenever Calvert County Public Schools are closed. Each weekend has something different in store, including scarecrow making and pony rides.

Hours: 3 to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday

Cost: $8 per person, includes a pumpkin

Montpelier Farms, Upper Marlboro

Corn mazes, hay rides, pedal carts, animals, bounce house, and more are included with admission. For an additional cost, you can try your hand at pumpkin chunkin, pumpkin jump pad, or gem stone mining.

Hours: Fall festival runs now through Nov. 4. Check website for hours.

Cost: $12 general admission, kids under 2 are free.

Serenity Farm, Benedict

Kasper’s Kastle opens in October for fall Halloween fun! The Halloween barn Kasper’s Kastle is suitable for kids and just one of the activities you can enjoy at Serenity Farm. Other activities include hayrides, petting zoo, face painting, pumpkin patch, and more.

Hours: October weekends, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cost: $10 per person

Shalgel Farms, Waldorf

Ride on the hay wagon to the pumpkin field! You’ll learn about how a local farm runs on your way to pick your Halloween pumpkin. Other activities include a petting zoo and kids play area.

Hours: October Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cost: $9 per person, kids under age 2 are free. Pumpkins not included with admission.

Spider Hall Farm, Prince Frederick

Trek through the corn maze, take a hayride, or visit the animals in the petting zoo. Other fun includes a giant slide and moonbounce. Pumpkins sold separately.

Hours: October Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for fall events.

Cost: $11 per person age 4-13; $5 age 14 and up; kids under three are free when accompanied by a paid adult
