The hustle and bustle of the holidays has kicked into high gear! We’ve found three events happening this week, whether you want to give back, celebrate with your community, or get creative.

121916-mikesfood-01Volunteers Needed for Mike’s Food Fund

Mike’s Food Fund in Lexington Park needs your help this week! The fund is packing and delivering turkey dinners to local families in need, and they need volunteers to accomplish this task. More than 2,500 families will be served this year.

Volunteers will be working every night this week, from Monday, Dec. 19, to Friday, Dec. 23, to package dinners that include a frozen turkey, a bag of potatoes, and canned vegetables. The work will take place at The Mission at 21015 Great Mills Road in Lexington Park. Doors open at 5 p.m., and help is needed until 7 p.m. or when the turkeys run out.

This is a great service opportunity for families and students who need volunteer hours.
