The hustle and bustle of the holidays is upon us! If you’ve got business with the governments and other agencies of the local county governments in Southern Maryland, it’s best to check the hours and holiday schedule before you visit an office over the next couple of weeks.
Here’s a basic list of what is open and closed for Christmas and New Year’s. Check with individual offices for details.
Calvert County
Government offices will be closed on Dec. 24 and 25, for Christmas. Offices will also be closed Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, 2019, for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. This closure schedule also affects county senior centers and community centers. Calvert County libraries are closed Dec. 24 and 25 and on Jan. 1, 2019. Libraries will close at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31.
Schools in Calvert County are closed Monday, Dec. 24, through Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019. School resumes on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019.

Charles County
Charles County government offices will be closed for Christmas on Dec. 24 and 25. Offices will close Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, 2019, for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Senior centers and community centers will also be closed these days. County libraries will be closed on Dec. 24 and 25 and Jan. 1, 2019. Charles County libraries will close at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31.

County government offices in St. Mary’s County will be closed Dec. 24 and 25 for Christmas and Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, 2019, for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. County senior centers and community centers will also be
closed on these dates. Libraries in St. Mary’s County will close for holidays on Dec. 24 and 25 and Jan. 1, 2019. The libraries will close early at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31.
St. Mary’s County schools are closed Monday, Dec. 24, through Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019. School reopens on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019.
