The calendar has flipped to a new month, and there is a lot going on in Southern Maryland this November! Here are just a few of the events happening here this weekend, Nov. 9-11. 2018.

Solve a Murder Mystery, Help a Local Cause!

The crowd will be full of suspects at Running Hare Vineyard
this weekend!

The vineyard is the setting for Crime and Pun-ishment, a
murder mystery dinner presented by the Community Mediation Center of Calvert. The dinner will take place Friday, Nov. 9, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Running Hare Vineyard, 150 Adelina Road in Prince Frederick.

Set in the 1920s, the murder mystery is a story of jiltedlovers, a rival Mafioso, and even a couple of undercover feds! Tickets are $60each and maybe be purchased at https://www.calvert-mediation.org/copy-of-events.

Kids Become Heroes at Superhero Academy!

Calling all superheroes!

Brush up on your hero skills at Charles County Parks &
Recreation’s Superhero Day! The event will take place Saturday, Nov. 10, from 10 a.m. to noon at Somers Community Center, 300 Willow Lane in La Plata.

You’ll participate in fun activities to enhance your ability
to run faster than a speeding bullet, jump over tall buildings, and complete the obstacle course. A light snack and Superhero Academy Certificate will be provided.

Register in advance at http://www.charlescountyparks.com/. Cost is $15 for residents in advance and $17 for non-residents in advance. Cost at the door is $10.

Lions to Award Peace Poster Winners

Student artists take the spotlight Saturday when the St.
Mary’s County Lions Clubs announce the winners of their peace poster contest.

The artists’ reception will take place Saturday, Nov. 10,
from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Lexington Park Library, 21677 FDR Blvd. in Lexington Park.

The theme this year is “Kindness Matters,” and the students’
posters reflect their interpretation of the theme. Winning posters from this local competition will be forwarded to the next level of competition in the Lions Clubs International contest.

The contest was sponsored by the St. Mary’s County Lions Clubs, the St. Mary’s County Arts Council, and Red Chalk Studios for all St. Mary’s County students ages 11, 12, and 13.
