Just because summer is winding down doesn’t mean you need to slow down! There’s always something fun happening in Southern Maryland, and that includes this weekend, Aug. 24-16, 2018.

Get Ready for College at CSM’s Super Saturday!

If you’ve applied to become a student at the College of Southern Maryland, you can do everything you need to become a student in one day!

The College of Southern Maryland will host Super Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25, on all three of its campuses, which are located in Leonardtown, La Plata, and Prince Frederick.

The tasks you can complete on Super Saturday include:

  • Take placement tests. Test-takers must arrive by 9 a.m.
  • Meet with an academic advisor to develop your academic plan
  • Register for classes and make payment arrangements
  • Purchase books for the upcoming semester

Sail Aboard the Historic Dee of St. Mary’s

Experience the Patuxent River like never before aboard an iconic Chesapeake dredge boat!

A two-hour public sail aboard the Dee of St. Mary’s will depart from and return to the Calvert Marine Museum on Saturday, Aug. 25, at 2:30 p.m. Help raise and lower and sail and enjoy your time on the water on a Chesapeake Bay skipjack.

Tickets are $25 for passengers age 13 and older and $15 for children age 5-12. Sorry, kids under age five are not permitted. Make advance reservations by noon on Friday, Aug. 24.

Dance Benefits Charles County Alzheimer’s Walk

The Southern Maryland Boot Scooters will host the Second Annual Alzheimer’s Benefit Dance in Saturday, Aug. 25, from 6 to 11 p.m. The dance will take place at the Waldorf Elks Lodge, 2210 Old Washington Road in Waldorf.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door and include food by Outback Steakhouse. Other events that evening include auctions, raffles, games, and music. All proceeds benefit the Charles County Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
