Easter is this Sunday, April 1, and it’s going to be a great weekend for getting out and about with the kids. Whether you want to hunt for eggs or meet with the Bunny himself, you’ll find a lot to do in Southern Maryland this weekend. Check out these fun family-friendly events happening Saturday, March 30, and Monday, April 2.

Go on the Hunt for Easter Eggs this Weekend

There’s nothing more fun than hunting for colorful Easter eggs! Check out these hunts happening this weekend.

Leonardtown: On Saturday, March 31, hunt for eggs at St. Clement’s Shores Park, 22300 Meadow Lane in Leonardtown. The event takes place from 1 to 6 p.m. and is sponsored by Knights of Columbus #10957 and WOLF. The event is free and includes crafts and games. Hot dogs and snacks will be provided throughout the afternoon. Bring a picnic, chairs, or blanket and plan to share spring! Registration begins at 1 p.m., and the first egg run begins at 2 p.m. For more information, call 240-298-4216.

St. Leonard: Where will you find eggs at Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum? Find out Saturday, March 31, during the park’s Easter egg hunt. The event begins at 11 a.m.; the hunt starts promptly at 11:15 a.m. Meet at the park pavilion; bring your own basket and don’t forget to dress for the weather. The day also includes a petting zoo from Mary’s Go Round. Free, but donations to the park are appreciated. The park is located at 10515 Mackall Road in St. Leonard. Upper Marlboro: Can’t make it to an egg hunt on Saturday? Check out this barnyard-themed Easter egg hunt on Monday, April 2! Darnall’s Chance House Museum will host its Barnyard Eggstravagana from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday. The event includes the egg hunt, games, petting zoo, and spring crafts for the kids. Bring your own basket! No reservations required. The museum is located at 14800 Governor Oden Bowie Drive in Upper Marlboro. For more information, call 301-952-8010.

Last Chance for Breakfast with the Easter Bunny!

He’s got a big day on Sunday, but the Easter Bunny is making one last breakfast stop in Southern Maryland. The Deale Volunteer Fire Department will host breakfast with the Easter Bunny on Saturday, March 31, from 8 a.m. to noon. The meal will take place at the station at 6007 Drum Point Road in Deale.

The menu includes scrambled eggs, home fries, pancakes, cream chipped beef, sausage, bacon, scrapple, sausage gravy, biscuits, toast, juice, and coffee. There will also be craft and Easter Egg hunts for various age groups.

Cost is $9 per person and free for children age 5 and younger. Pictures with the Easter Bunny are $5 each and include a craft frame project.

Have Ice Cream with the Easter Bunny

When he’s all done on Sunday, the Easter Bunny wants to have ice cream with you!

The La Plata Town Hall will host Ice Cream with the Easter Bunny on Monday, April 2, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the town hall, which is located at 305 Queen Anne St. in La Plata. Hop on by for a sweet treat, crafts, and a visit with the Easter Bunny.
