Cheers to BeerFest at Historic St. Mary’s City

Did the earliest Maryland settlers celebrate their arrival with a cold one?

No one knows, but this weekend, you can celebrate with Historic St. Mary’s City’s 7th Annual BeerFest. The event will take place Saturday, June 24, from noon to 6 p.m. on the grounds of the living history museum at 18751 Hogaboom Lane in St. Mary’s City.

Taste beers from craft brewers such as Ruddy Duck, Brewers Alley, Flying Dog, Du Claw, Mullys Brewery, Union Craft, Peabody Heights, and Calvert Brewing Company. Other highlights include fantastic food vendors and live music from The Ryan Forrester Band, Bye Felcia, and Come Back Iris. Watch brewer and cider-making demonstrations, tour Van Sweringen’s Ordinary (one of Maryland’s first taverns), and browse the offerings by local artisans. Fun activities for the youngsters may be found at the Kid’s Tent.

Admission is $18 for tasters and $8 for designated drivers online, and $20 for tasters and $10 for designated drivers at the gate. Admission is free for children ages 12 and under. Parking is free.

BeerFest is a fundraiser to support the education and research activities of the Historic St. Mary’s City Museum. For more information, call 240-895-4977, or visit www.StMarysCityBeerFest.org.
