Have we mentioned yet how much we love fall in Southern Maryland? Each weekend brings a new list of fun festivals and seasonal events. Here are three for this weekend, Oct. 14-16, 2016.

Charles County Food, Wine, and Beer Festival

Calling all wine enthusiasts!

The Charles County Wine and Food Festival will take place Saturday, Oct. 15, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Regency Furniture Stadium, 11765 St. Linus Dr. in Waldorf. Gates open at 10 a.m. for VIP admission and 11 a.m. for general admission.

The festival pairs great wines with delicious food, live music, dancing, crafts, and artwork. Participate in a paint-and-sip event (additional ticket required)!

Cost at the gate is $150 for VIP tickets, which include wine and food samples, two bottles of wine, souvenir glass and shirt, seating, private restrooms, and more. General admission tickets are $45 at the gate and include wine and food samples and a souvenir glass. Designated driver tickets are $30 at the gate. Children 12 and younger are free.

Paint-and-sip sessions will be offered at noon, 2 p.m., and 4 p.m. Cost is $25 per person.

101016-oysterfest-01Oyster Festival Celebrates 50 Years!

Celebrate 50 years of fun and oysters at the annual U.S. Oyster Festival this weekend!

The festival will take place Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15-16, at the St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds in Leonardtown. The festival is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

This annual event also marks the opening of oyster season on the Chesapeake Bay. The festival includes the U.S. National Oyster Shucking Championships and the National Oyster Cook-Off. Known for its range of seafood and the exhibition of the cultural activities surrounding oysters and the waterman’s way of life, the festival also features live music, local food, arts and crafts, craft beer tasting, and family fun!

The National Oyster Cook-Off will take place Saturday, Oct. 15, at 10:30 a.m., with awards being given in the afternoon. The National Oyster Shucking Competition will begin at noon.

Cost is $7 per person per day. Children 12 and younger are free.

Nothing is more fun than fall on the farm!

Six local farms will participate in the annual Calvert County Farm Festival this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15-16. The event is 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

Visit six local farms for a day of agri-fun! Activities and admission prices vary from farm to farm, but activities include hay rides, pumpkin patches, mazes, wine tastings, live music, and more! The participating farms are:

  • Double Oak Farm at the American Chestnut Land Trust, Prince Frederick
  • Fridays Creek Winery, Owings
  • Horsmon Farm, St. Leonard
  • Perigeaux Vineyards and Winery, St. Leonard
  • Spider Hall Farm, Prince Frederick
  • Swann Farms, Owings
