Apples and pumpkins and falling leaves – oh my! Festivals and fun are on the calendar in Southern Maryland this weekend. Here are just three of the events happening here this weekend, Oct. 11-13, 2019.
Appreciation Day Puts Focus on Patuxent River
The Patuxent River’s impact on Southern Maryland is huge, and the goal of Patuxent River Appreciation Day (PRAD) is to celebrate it!
PRAD will take place Saturday, Oct. 12, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Calvert Marine mUseum, 14200 Solomons Island Road in Solomons.
This annual celebration creates awareness, recognition, and promotion of the economic, social, recreational, cultural, and historical impact of the tributaries of the Patuxent River and the basin through which it flows.
Admission and parking is free! There will be lots of music, food, local arts and crafts, a kid-friendly zone, boat rides, toy boat building, pony rides, displays, and activities celebrating the river. An evening “river party” tops off the day from 5 to 7 p.m., with live music by Robbie Boothe at 6 p.m.
PRAD is sponsored by the Calvert County Board of County Commissioners, Calvert Marine Museum, Arick L Lore Post American Legion, and Calvert County Waterman’s Association.
