Southern Maryland’s event calendar is always varied, but this week we’ve found three totally different types of events happening in the area this weekend, Feb. 24-26, 2017

Concert Features Folk Musician Lynn Hollyfield

The Southern Maryland Traditional Music and Dance HomeSpun Coffee House will sponsor an Open Mic Night on Friday, Feb. 24, from 7 to 10 p.m. The event will take place at Christ Church Parish Hall, 37497 Zach Fowler Road in Chaptico.

This month, the coffeehouse features singer-songwriter Lynn Hollyfield, whose style has been described as “indie-folk-pop” by Leicasterbangs, UK. Her music reflects an infusion of many influences, from great jazz artists such as Ella Fitzgerald to contemporary influences of John Hiatt, Shawn Colvin, and CSNY. On her return to HomeSpun Coffeehouse, Hollyfield will be joined by Keely Hollyfield on vocals; Steve Wolf on bass; and Jimmy Brink on percussion.

Cost is $10 for SMTMD members and $15 for non members. Refreshments will be available for a donation. For more information and directions, visit www.smtmd.org.
