What are you doing New Year’s Eve? Ring in the new year at one of these three fun events happening in Southern Maryland this weekend, Dec. 30, 2016, through Jan. 1, 2017.
Make some noise for the new year!
The Southern Branch of the Calvert County Library will host Countdown to Noon Year on Friday, Dec. 30, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at its branch at 13920 H. G. Trueman Road in Solomons.
Celebrate with stories, crafts, and more fun! The even ends with a noontime countdown and an apple juice toast.
It’s that time of year again: Time for the Annual Polar Bear Plunge in North Beach! Are you brave enough to take a dip in the frigid Chesapeake Bay?
The Polar Bear Plunge will take place Sunday, Jan, 1, 2017, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the North Beach Waterfront. Whether you’ve lost a bet or are looking for a unique way to ring in the new year, you can’t beat this annual plunge!
All plungers will enjoy hot cocoa and marshmallows around the bonfire. Participants will also get a T-shirt and certificate.

Garden in Lights takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. most nights through Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017, at Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center, 13480 Dowell Road in Dowell.
