Summer is officially here, and the community calendar is full is fun events for the whole family. Here are three we’re looking forward to this weekend.

Get Close to Big Trucks at Touch-A-Truck

062016-touchatruck-01Who doesn’t love big trucks? The Center for Children will host its 8th Annual Touch-A-Truck on Saturday, June 25, at Thomas Stone High School in Waldorf from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This unique and interactive community event that provides families the opportunity to touch, learn, and explore trucks, construction vehicles, cars, public safety equipment while meeting those who protect, serve, and build our Southern Maryland community. This event also features special performances, local food vendors, face painting, games, and more.

Cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children. There is no charge for children under 1. Proceeds benefit the Center for Children.

Beer + History = A Great Day at St. Mary’s City!

062016-beerfest-01When the Ark and the Dove landed with Maryland’s first settlers, did they celebrate with a beer?

The folks at Historic St. Mary’s City like to think so! The 5th Annual Historic St. Mary’s City Beerfest will take place Saturday, June 25, from noon to 6 p.m. at the museum’s State House Lawn in St. Mary’s City.

Find beer on tap and food from local vendors. Art and craft vendors will sell their wares, and live music will be playing all day.

Cost is $20 per person if you’re planning to sample; $10 for designated drivers. Children 12 and under are free.

Celebrate International Mud Day!

We didn’t know International Mud Day was a thing, but we’re so glad it is! And you can celebrate it on Sunday, June 26, at Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center’s Second Annual Mud Day.

The event takes place from noon to 4 p.m. Expect an afternoon of family-friendly muddy mayhem! Explore squishy art projects, cavort in the giant mud pit, play in the mud kitchen, and enjoy a crazy variety of muddy toys! Food vendors will be at the event, too.

Cost is $5 for non-members and free for members. Kids 4 and under are free.
