6 Southern Maryland Farms Offering Family Fun this Fall

The calendar has turned to September, and the kids are back to school. Is anyone else thinking fall?

Starting next weekend, farms around Southern Maryland begin to open for fall fun for the whole family. From corn mazes to pumpkin patches to corn boxes, there’s sure to be something for every member of the family, no matter how young or old. Check out these six Southern Maryland farms this fall.

Bowles Farms

Location: Clements, St. Mary’s County

Activities: Pumpkin patch, hayride, corn box, petting zoo, cupcake shop, straw maze, and more. Don’t miss the corn maze; this year’s theme is “Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.”

Hours: From Sept. 24 to Oct. 30, Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Cost: $10 per person. Children three and younger are free. Pumpkins are an additional charge.

Forrest Hall Farm

Location: Mechanicsville, St. Mary’s County

Activities: Farm store, play area, homemade donuts, farm animals, hayrides, and apples grown in the orchard. This year’s corn maze celebrates the historic trails of St. Mary’s County.

Hours: Shop open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week. Fall activities open weekends from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Cost: Maze entry is $7 per person, free for children age three and under.

Middleton’s Cedar Hill Farm

Location: Waldorf, Charles County

Activities: Pumpkin patch, hayride, farm animals, and kiddie maze. The 8-acre corn maze has QR checkpoints throughout the maze.

Hours: Opening weekend is Sept. 24-25. Visit the website for updated information.

Serenity Farm

Location: Benedict, Charles County

Activities: Hayrides, petting zoo, Harvest House store, Kasper’s Kastle, hay bale maze, and pumpkin patch.

Hours: Open October weekends beginning Saturday, Oct. 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Farm store is open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cost: $10 per person

Shlagel Farms

Location: Waldorf, Charles County

Activities: Hayride to pumpkin patch, and kids’ play area.

Hours: October weekends beginning Saturday, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Cost: $9 per person, children 24 months and younger are free. Pumpkins are an additional charge.

Spider Hall Farm

Location: Prince Frederick, Calvert County

Activities: Hayrides, corn maze, petting zoo, corn box, slides, moonbounce, and more.

Hours: Open October weekends, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Cost: $9 per person, children under 3 are free.
