‘Tis the Season! Three Fun Holiday Events in Southern Maryland This Weekend, Dec. 2-4, 2016

The holiday season is in full swing in Southern Maryland! Get in the mood at one of the many fun Christmas- and holiday-themed events happening this weekend, Dec. 2-4, 2016. Here are three that caught our eye.

Feel Festive at the Solomons Christmas Walk

Stroll luminaria-lit streets and let the holiday festivities begun!

The annual Solomons Christmas Walk will take place Thursday, Dec. 1, Friday, Dec. 2, and Saturday, Dec. 3, from 6 to 9 p.m. all three nights.

Enjoy fun activities on for the whole family Solomons Island, including the lighted boat parade at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday! Santa Claus will also make an appearance at the walk. The Calvert Marine Museum will offer holiday delights for visitors of all ages, and Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center will present its annual Garden in Lights display.

Musical entertainment on Friday, Dec. 2, includes the COSMIC Flute Choir, Patuxent Voices, and the Patuxent High School Choir. On Saturday, Dec. 3, these groups will perform: Bruce Rider & Friends, Calvert High School Chamber Orchestra, Patuxent High School Chamber Orchestra, and Robert Pfeiffer and Stephen Godfrey.

Gather a group of friends for a fun afternoon touring amazingly decorated local homes!

Health Share of St. Mary’s will host its Holiday Home Tour on Sunday, Dec. 4, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Six beautiful homes will be joyfully decorated for the holidays. Each residence has unique architectural details and décor to charm, fascinate, inform, and amuse you! All homes are in the Piney Point/Tall Timbers area of St. Mary’s County.

To find the homes, take Route 5 (Point Lookout Road) to Calloway. Turn onto Route 249 and follow Lighthouse Road and tour signs to house A. Signs indicating the homes will be clearly marked on the road.

Tickets are $50 per person or $10 per home. Tickets may be purchased the day of the event from any of the homes on the tour.

La Plata Hosts Olde Tyme Holiday Gathering

Come together with your friends and neighbors for an afternoon of good cheer!

The Town of La Plata will host its annual Olde Tyme Holiday Gathering on Sunday, Dec. 4, from 3 to 6 p.m. The day includes music, activities, refreshments, and a visit from Santa Claus!

The day starts with a lighting ceremony at 3:10 p.m. Horse-drawn carriage rides will be available from 3:30 to 5 p.m., weather permitting. In the tent, you’ll find children’s crafts, performances by The Balloon Nerd, and story time with the Charles County Public Library. Kids can also meet and greet holiday characters with Gracie’s Guys and Gals Show Troupe.

Entertainment includes the Peace Ringers, La Plata United Methodist Church Cherubs and Crimson Angels, Southern Mix Barbershop Chorus, and a Holiday Sing-Along.

Santa arrives at 5:30 p.m.!
